ISSUES

Racine today is faced with many of the same tough challenges our nation is currently fighting. Georgia intends to face these challenges head on in the courtroom.

She will rely on a common sense approach garnered from her educational experiences at Park High School, American University and UW-Madison. Her professional experience as Deputy Family Court Commisioner and as a private practicing attorney means she has what it takes to get the job done and make the right decisions - according to the law.

ACCESS TO COURTS

Judges must insure  that access to our courts is maintained.  As budgets shrink to support our court system we will be asked to do more with less.  This is a challenge I have met.  We must because the courts belong to the people.  As a Court Commissioner, I have assured full access to all.

PEOPLE WHO REPRESENT THEMSELVES

Increasingly people are coming into court to represent themselves.  People have the right to represent themselves. Pro se litigants challenge the traditional court system, and our courts must rise to the challenge.

TECHNOLOGY AND JUSTICE

Judges play a pivotal role in the application of technology in our local courts.  Our judiciary and local government have assured access to public computers  that allow persons to discover information and perform their own case searches.  This helps people, and the courts.  I will work to strengthen the availability of this technology.

LEADERSHIP

Judges provide leadership in the greater community concerning legal issues but also have experiences and ideas that generate alternatives to the traditional court process. An example is the integration of mediation in civil cases to generate dispute resolution without engaging in litigation before a judge or jury.  Another example is the possibility of court ordered counseling or treatment when appropriate in certain types of cases, like domestic abuse.
